report here
The Hawksburn Moa Hunting Site in the Cairnmuir Mountains was a camp established by the Maori.
Here they butchered hundreds of Moa and many bones have since been collected from this site.
The remains of extinct birds illustrated in this exhibition, were all excavated as bones and identified from the middens and ovens at the Hawksburn campsite.
